Self-care prevents burnout and negative implications to your overall life. Self-care not only helps improve our mental health but it also assists in improving our physical health and many other aspects of our life. As the saying goes, “You cannot pour from an empty cup”.

How to Achieve an Overall Sense of Wellness

The national Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) developed 8 dimensions of wellness and a personalized wellness plan based on these dimensions of wellness which include

  • Emotional

  • Environmental

  • Financial

  • Intellectual

  • Occupational

  • Physical

  • Social

  • Spiritual

Looking at each dimension helps to achieve an overall sense of wellness and allows to look at self-care in a more rounded manner!
