Compass 5 ways to Cope[2].jpg

#1

Take care of yourself.  Self-care is a hot word right now, but it is essential to be caring for your soul, getting sleep, staying hydrated, eating well and moving your body right now. I would also add to limit news overload.

#2

The next thing that we can do to thrive during this time is to stick to the facts.  This is emotional! For our customers and for us! Just remember that even though it is easy to get wrapped up in how this feels, when it comes to our business we need to stick to the facts.  Know your numbers, know your budget, and know what is essential to get by.

#3 Keep your thinking in check.  Take time to stop and think. Recognize what is in your control and what is out of your control.  There are lots of things that are out of our control right now and worrying and stressing about them constantly doesn’t change that.  Flip your thoughts instead on things you can control. Spending time with your family, home project, reading a new book, whatever.

#4 Laugh.  There is a ton of information coming at everyone right now, especially business owners and in the next few days we will make big decisions about our businesses, our families, and our futures.  We need to make sure that we are stepping away and refreshing ourselves in pockets of time throughout this thing. Laughing can do this. Whether its a show, looking at old pictures, your kids, or having a zoom party with friends, whatever it is try to get some laughing in this weekend.

#5 Last but not least,  I would suggest that you stay connected with your people.  By this, I mean your family, friends and your team and neighbors.  Use our technology, call or write. Check in on each other regularly.  I will include here any regular person you are connected with, including your therapist.  Wherever they are, they are likely offering telehealth services right now.

And remember that this extreme circumstance is temporary.  If you need help breaking this down or processing it, reach out!
